(March 18, 2026) All children have the right to attend K-12 public schools in this country. We are all stronger when every young person is able to learn in safe and welcoming classrooms.
Unfortunately, opponents to these fundamental values continue to challenge key legal and policy protections that ensure education for all children.
Today, the U.S. House Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government is holding a hearing aimed at undermining Plyler v. Doe, the U.S. Supreme Court case that makes clear that the U.S. Constitution guarantees access to public education for undocumented students. This hearing is part of a larger effort to target and exclude children, including through dangerous state policy agendas, dishonest data analyses, and harmful rhetoric.
Below we share an important history of Plyler, resources for how we can all support students and families, and information for how you can reach out to your U.S. representatives to protect educational access for all children.
Call Your Representatives!
We encourage you to call your U.S. congressperson and tell them that all students deserve access to an education, no matter where they are from.
