What happened in the Texas legislative session? This webinar will review new educational policies from the Texas legislative session and how they affect schools, educators, students and parents. Chloe Latham Sikes, Ph.D., and Paige Duggins-Clay, J.D., will give an overview of policies that passed (or didn’t) related to school funding, emergent bilingual education, school safety, college readiness and access, and culturally-sustaining schooling.

The coalition against #HB3979 held a virtual press conference featuring students, teachers, educators and superintendents who oppose HB 3979 (Texas 87th) prior to the Texas Senate’s anticipated floor debate.

Community members made their voices be heard on HB 3979. Many constituents did not get to testify about why practical, real-life civics education is important to them. As the Texas Senate was about to debate this bill that would limit speech and engagement in Texas classrooms, we held our own hearing.
